Navitas vs Alltrax Golf Cart Controllers: Which Upgrade Is Right for You?
Navitas and Alltrax are two of the most common names shoppers see when they start looking at golf cart performance controllers and conversion systems. Both can be excellent choices, but the right answer depends much more on your cart than on the logo on the controller.
Before comparing brands, identify your golf cart's year, make, model, battery voltage, motor type, throttle system, and existing controller. Those details determine which kits are actually compatible.
Controller Upgrade vs. Full AC Conversion
One of the biggest sources of confusion is the difference between replacing or upgrading a controller and converting a cart from a DC drive system to an AC drive system.
A controller-only upgrade normally keeps the cart's existing motor architecture. A full AC conversion kit can include a controller, AC motor, wiring or adapter components, and programming hardware depending on the application. If your cart is currently DC, buying an AC controller by itself does not automatically make the rest of the drive system compatible.

Where Navitas Stands Out
Navitas offers application-specific controller and AC conversion packages for a wide range of golf carts. Depending on the kit, features can include vehicle-specific harnessing, an on-the-fly programmer, and app-based access for setup or monitoring.
The important part is the exact application. A Navitas kit intended for one Club Car throttle or controller system is not automatically interchangeable with a different Club Car system, and the same is true across EZGO, Yamaha and newer golf cart brands.
Where Alltrax Stands Out
Alltrax is also widely used for upgraded golf cart control systems, including DC controller applications and AC conversion solutions. Alltrax products are available in different electrical and vehicle configurations, so the controller family, connector style, motor, throttle input and voltage still need to match the cart.
When comparing an Alltrax option with a Navitas option, compare the complete system required for your cart, not simply the amperage number printed in the product title.
Amperage Is Not the Only Specification
A higher controller amperage rating does not by itself guarantee that a cart will be faster or that it is the best choice. Real-world performance is affected by the motor, battery system, gearing, tire size, vehicle weight, programming, thermal limits and the rest of the electrical system.
That is also why supporting parts matter. High-current builds may require an appropriately rated contactor or solenoid, cables and other electrical components. Questions to Answer Before Ordering
- What is the exact year, make and model of the cart?
- What is the battery pack voltage?
- Is the current drive system AC or DC?
- What controller is currently installed?
- What throttle/input system does the cart use?
- Are you keeping the existing motor or replacing it?
- Does the kit include the harnesses, adapters and programming components your application requires?
So, Navitas or Alltrax?
Choose the system that is correctly matched to your cart and your build goals. For some carts, Navitas offers the cleanest application-specific package. For others, an Alltrax controller or conversion system may be the better fit. There is no useful one-brand answer without checking the vehicle first.
